Acrylic on Board: Impressionist Painting by Mary Lind (1925-2004) Entitled 'Ojai Valley'

1960s

depicting a wooded landscape in the impasto technique using thickly laid paint in soothing colors of blue and green; unsigned with artist label on verso; excellent clean surface; with later glazed custom oak frame and linen matte.

After studying at the Rhode Island School of design, Mary Lind became an engraver, an illustrator and a calligrapher before finding her passion for painting. Her prolific works are displayed in the permanent collections of several museums and private galleries.  She remained an active and well respected member of the blossoming 1950s art scene in the Los Angeles area, exhibiting regularly at the Los Angeles Art Association Gallery on La Cienega Blvd. Beginning in 1989 she served for thirteen years on the Board of Directors of the National Watercolor Society.
