each square tapered column of well-figured rock crystal, having four sides and a pyramidal top; resting on a lacquered base; good antique condition with no chips or cracks to crystal; some lifting to veneers on bases. 

Rock crystal is the purest variety of Quartz and is transparent and colorless. Its name derives from the Greek term krustallos meaning 'ice' and is the sister gemstone to colorful varieties of quartz, such as amethyst and citrine.

the circular tabouret with new decking above a rope-twist giltwood frame with cabriole supports with knotted feet all joined by an x-form stretcher centering a robust central knot; furniture carved in this manner is generally associated with the Parisian upholsterer A.M.E. Fournier, who supplied at least one carved rope stool to the Musée National du Château de Compiègne; gilding refreshed; nice patina with overall even rubbing; structurally sound frame; new taupe leather upholstery with saddle-stitch detailing.
