Signed JB Hedouin Paris Régence Bronze-Mounted Rosewood Tombeau Commode

circa 1740

this Impressive 18th Century French Régence Ormolu-mounted rosewood-veneered commode signed 'JB Hedouin' Master Cabinetmaker, Paris; featuring a bombé-form body fitted with four drawers of herringbone parquetry inlay with oak secondary structure;  retaining its original ormolu and hardware all of grand scale and typical of the rocaille period; the original 1938 Catalog Label on reverse; professionally restored with some veneer replacements; French polished and bronze lightly cleaned; good antique condition; later marble top.

Jean-Baptiste Hedouin (died January 1783) Master Cabinetmaker, Paris, receiving his Masters degree in 1738. After receiving his degree, he set up his workshop on rue Traversière-Saint-Antoine.
