Jack Freidin for Pace Collection Chrome and Burl Veneer 4-Drawer Writing Desk
designed by Jack Freidin (American 1930-2004) for the Pace Collection, the rectangular top above an apron fitted with four flush drawers all in a well-figured and warmly patinated burlwood veneer; raised on a polished steel frame; good vintage condition; professionally refinished; minor abrasions and rubbing to metal.
Born in New York City in 1930, Jack Freidin showed an early interest in design and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the Pratt Institute in 1951. Earning his master's from Columbia University in 1954, he then attended Harvard for postgraduate work in the extremely new field of Computer-Aided Design. Always embracing new ideas and cutting edge concepts, he will most notably be remembered for his mid-century modern furniture designs for the Pace Collection and Knoll Furniture.
