a wonderful period English George III hand-carved tilt-top supper/tea table with shell and leaf carved top with circular reserves, over a turned baluster support issuing three downswept legs terminating in ball and claw pad feet; the English supper table became popular during the reign of King George II and continued into the late 18th century; repair to edge of top; refinished surface

with lively interlacing foliate crest above a rectangular-form frame adorned with rocaille carving at the shoulder above meandering foliate vines; good antique condition with overall even rubbing to gilding; age to original mirror plate

each plate depicting delightful images of seals; from the fascinating encyclopedia of natural history and science for children published between 1790 & 1830; minor discoloration; new ebonized frames.
