the tall and striking ribbed art glass lamp of conical form in luminous smoked glass all resting on a brass base; Empoli is known as the other Italian mid-century glass. Simpler in design than their Murano cousins, the simple traditional styles of Empoli glass were quickly adapted to the sparse abstract shapes of mid 20th century modernism. It’s fun to share my favorites at epoca! New to the gallery is this very cool and shimmering 8-light chandelier by Swedish glass designer Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors Glassworks. This circular chandelier has eight pie-shaped curved and textured crystal segments supported by a brass fixture. Carl Fagerlund was internationally recognized for his unique and cutting edge lighting designs at Orrefors Glassworks during the 1960’s through 70’s and I’m proud that we have a great example to share with you.

Eric Petsinger:
Two things in Eric Petsinger’s life are truly memorable. The first is a day in 1968 when his mother left the house a brunette and came home a blonde. The second was opening epoca, the beautifully edited San Francisco gallery, a fixture in the San Francisco Design Center neighborhood since 2003. In epoca, Eric has created a layered inventory with a ‘something for everyone’ approach, blending American and European antiques with 20th century furnishings. Whether assisting an interior designer or an antiques enthusiast, Eric says, “Mix it up! Go ahead and put that shapely French rococo armchair next to a sleek John Widdicomb sofa and see how they bring out each other’s beauty.”
