this cleverly designed mid-century set of nesting tables designed by Bertha Schaefer (American 1895-1971) for M. Singer & Sons with rectangular case table fitted on the underside with 4 round drop-leaf slide-in collapsible tables suspended from slots; with label 'M. Singer & Sons, New York Chicago'; In 1924 Schaefer founded Bertha Schaefer Interiors. Her company designed Bauhaus-inspired furniture and interiors for both residences and businesses.

a true time capsule of 1961, the 3-dimensional plaster negative relief plaques depicting a golfer, bowler and tennis player all engaged in their sport and all from the perspective of being in front of the player; each inscribed '1961 RICHTER'; Hal Richer ( German-American 1888-1976) an artist and filmmaker known for his contribution to the Dada movement. Settling in the US after fleeing Nazi Germany, spending his later years in Connecticut; good vintage condition with some small chips to edges; some rubbing to surface
each large glazed ceramic baluster-form table lamp on later lucite bases designed by Swedish artist Ingrid Atterberg as part of the "Spiral' series, circa 1949, with alternating ochre and white stripes on a matte brown ground; impressed marks to underside; Ingrid Atterberg (1920-2008) was born in the northern Sweden city of Harnosand. She studied at Slojdforeningens School in Gothenburg. Ingrid came to the Upsala-Ekeby Pottery factory in 1944, staying on until 1964.

April showers brings May, actually, June––flowers; flowers bursting of vibrant beautiful color, just like this large pair of crackle-glaze ceramic lamps in a richly-colored turquoise by Frederick Cooper here at epoca. These lamps are a perfect example of the extraordinary quality associated with the Frederick Cooper Lamp Company established in Chicago in 1923. Frederick was a Chicago artist and was fascinated with the new invention of lamps and tried to incorporate the elements and flavors of American architecture of that time which has been carried on through the generations. It’s fun to share my favorites at epoca! New to the gallery is this very cool and shimmering 8-light chandelier by Swedish glass designer Carl Fagerlund for Orrefors Glassworks. This circular chandelier has eight pie-shaped curved and textured crystal segments supported by a brass fixture. Carl Fagerlund was internationally recognized for his unique and cutting edge lighting designs at Orrefors Glassworks during the 1960’s through 70’s and I’m proud that we have a great example to share with you.
