Best known for his landscapes with animals, he was well-traveled, visiting France, Spain, England, Tangiers and Morocco. He also traveled to the American west, notably Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was a member of the Society of Washington (DC) Artists, where he exhibited, in addition to the National Academy of Design; some discoloration to paper; newly matted and framed
the hinged circular top centering a beautifully inlaid checkboard on one side flipping to reveal an inlaid Parcheesi (Ludo) board on the reverse; raised in 4 dramatically incurved supports joined by a lower shelf fitted with a hidden compartment for game pieces; professionally refinished with minor warpage to top; Parcheesi is based on Pachisi, originated in India around the 4th century A.D. Its popularity headed west in the 1860s, first traveling to England, which had taken over rule of India from the British East India Company in 1858, and then further into Europe.

Bill Stanisich first encountered England’s Lake District through the poetry of Wordsworth and Coleridge. Upon visiting the area in the 1990's, Stanisich was stunned by the beauty and dramatic light, and the ever-present and often foreboding clouds. In these paintings, he was attracted to the play of light and shadow on the water - a theme he has often returned to.
