BIOGRAPHY
Bill Bloomfield engages the intersecting qualities between art and architecture through vibrant, hard-edge paintings inspired by the effect of light. Bill has a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech. As part of his thesis he studied color and form through silk screen printing and continues this exploration today through his paintings.
STATEMENT
Gunnar Donald Anderson (1927-2022) was active/lived in California, New York and is known for his child portraits and advertising art. After two years of study at the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco, he attended Los Angeles Art Center School and in 1951 earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree. From 1951 to 1955, he worked for as an art director for two New York City based advertising agencies, before moving to San Francisco in 1955. His works are held in numerous collections nationwide and has received multiple awards.
of superb quality with a rich patina, the solid mahogany oval top centering an inlaid shell motif with satinwood perimeter band and stringing; all resting on turned supports ending in pad feet; fitted with swing legs on either side with large knuckle joints constructed within the frame; the half-round leaves raise with wrought-iron hinges allowing the table to function as a breakfast table, serving piece, end table or game table; Dimensions: 29.5" H x 38.75" W x 14.75" D (Closed) 49.5" L (Open) Condition: Good overall antique condition with signs of age and use including some surface abras
the lushly painted still life depicting a woven basket full of finely painted bearded irises, parrot tulips, hydrangeas and peonies with discreetly painted bees and a snail; all resting on a draped table; good antique condition; signed lower left: M. Luber München; height: 36" (overall) 26.75" (canvas), width: 28" (overall) 18.5" (canvas); Max Luber (1879-1950) was a German academic painter who studied and worked in Munich. His paintings primarily depict lush, dark still lifes in the Flemish style.
the circular tabouret with new decking above a rope-twist giltwood frame with cabriole supports with knotted feet all joined by an x-form stretcher centering a robust central knot; furniture carved in this manner is generally associated with the Parisian upholsterer A.M.E. Fournier, who supplied at least one carved rope stool to the Musée National du Château de Compiègne; gilding refreshed; nice patina with overall even rubbing; structurally sound frame; new taupe leather upholstery with saddle-stitch detailing.
An unusual pair of hand-blown clear and gold aventurine Venetian candlesticks with large-scale dolphin connectors made by Salviati, circa 1920's featuring dramatic full-bodied upward-facing dolphins; raised on a splayed quilted foot with removable quilted bobeche; excellent condition with no chips or cracks;
a good example of American Abstract Expressionism by established contemporary artist Jan Wunderman, depicting stacked asymmetrical rock-like forms, which is rooted in the artist's nod towards nature; painted in translucent tones retaining a rich and strong color sense which is part of the artist's vocabulary; signed 'wunderman' lower left; good overall vintage condition with minor wear to the canvas; some scratches to the wooden frame

These lamps are a perfect example of the extraordinary quality associated with the Frederick Cooper Lamp Company established in Chicago in 1923. Frederick was a Chicago artist and was fascinated with the new invention of lamps and tried to incorporate the elements and flavors of American architecture of that time which has been carried on through the generations. In these virtuoso watercolors, every surface pictured, wet with rain, has been transformed into a vehicle for light. The paintings themselves tell their story, of color applied and moved; of how an artist can take water, paper, and pigment and make moving pictures--in more than one sense of the word. Studying them, you can almost hear the sound of cars on wet pavement; of horns and engines, speeding away from you, into the night.
