this cleverly designed mid-century set of nesting tables designed by Bertha Schaefer (American 1895-1971) for M. Singer & Sons with rectangular case table fitted on the underside with 4 round drop-leaf slide-in collapsible tables suspended from slots; with label 'M. Singer & Sons, New York  Chicago'; In 1924 Schaefer founded Bertha Schaefer Interiors. Her company designed Bauhaus-inspired furniture and interiors for both residences and businesses.

the serene tonal painting with its limited palette and harmonizing colors depicting an impressionistic, hilly wintry scene; excellent condition; new giltwood frame and fillet; Robb Beebe began his art training in 1910 at the Cleveland School of Art. Post-university studies led Beebe to the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1913, he began using the name Robb Beebe with its unusual spelling. In the 1930's, Beebe worked as an illustrator for the pulp magazine, All Story Love Tales while contributing to Women's World, Collier's and McCalls.

from the artist: I've long been inspired by old things. The texture and play of light on a weathered surface are the things that spark my imagination. I seek to capture a building's essence in my paintings, in a time less hurried with a calmness of spirit. Their strong simple shapes inspire me to try to somehow preserve their beauty captured at a moment in time.

Six Provincetown photographs, each titled and signed in pencil on the matting; "One of Provincetown’s most colorful and creative artists was photographer John W. Gregory. Born in New York City, he grew up as the son of the city editor for the New York Tribune. After studying with John Sloane at the Art Students League in New York, he took up photography during World War II in Provincetown. His photographs were published by Time Magazine, the New York Times and the Associated Press. Seven of his photographs are included in the Smithsonian’s permanent collection.

attributed to Warren Kessler Lamps, New York est. 1939; each hand-blown columnar lamp of baluster-form with reeded shaft above a bulbous mid-section over a cylindrical pedestal and splayed foot; all resting on a gold painted metal base; each in a soft butterscotch cased-glass; height: 18.5" (top of glass); good condition with no chips or cracks; professionally rewired  

the tall and striking ribbed art glass lamp of conical form in luminous smoked glass all resting on a brass base; Empoli is known as the other Italian mid-century glass. Simpler in design than their Murano cousins, the simple traditional styles of Empoli glass were quickly adapted to the sparse abstract shapes of mid 20th century modernism. from his Potrero Hill studio, San Francisco artist Bill Stanisich would lay down his brush and gaze down onto Yerba Buena Island, the Bay Bridge and surrounding water.  What he saw was ever-changing so he decided to capture on paper the various moods of mother nature. On still, clear nights, the water was a sheet of glass and Yerba Buena Island's silhouette soaked up the darkness creating a black void, while the tips of the Bay Bridge Towers emitted beacons of light in the distance. When it rained, vague shadows were barely visible through the wet, dark skies.
